Access Toyota + no haggling = No more bargains

Here's a link to a pretty interesting article regarding Toyota's Access "no haggling" program. The reason I'm linking this is that I've been helping Tuyet buy a new car and she was specifically looking for a Toyota Yaris. After dealing with shady dealers and stealerships we got pretty fed up and most likely will not deal with Toyota Canada, perhaps Toyota USA if they don't go by this BS Access program. Read for yourself (I know its from 2003 but it is still interesting).

I have been so busy of late and a bit lazy to write in here, but I will try to get back into the swing of blogging again with this warmup point form entry.

First day of training.

I went through 5 1/2 hours of web training today. It was a little bit long winded and it was a bit too much to absorb. But it was okay overall. I have about another 12 hours of training and then I'm on the floor. Kinda scary. But I know I can keep my head above water. Why are there so many women cashiers? No I'm not complaining :D

Missed the bus....

....the Contemporary Motor Sports 1-Day Spring Blowout sale bus that is. All because I was training from 8-5 the Saturday that the CMS sale was occuring. I'm so sad. Last year I got a great deal on my CAI from there and this year I wanted to go pick up a set of 18" inch Tenzo rims wrapped in Nexens and maybe splurge to get some Tein Coilovers. But sadly I totally missed the bus on this sale. Hopefully I can find a good deal on these in the upcoming months. I've waited a year and I missed it because of training! Blah!

Agent Orange reporting for duty!

So after a week of thinking about whether or not I would attend my training sessions at the Home Depot this weekend I finally decided that I would give it a try, thinking that I had nothing to lose. And after 16 hours of paid training, I'm really glad that I went. There are so many positives about working there that I don't care what all the haters say. Here's a few perks.

- 50% of my tuition will be reimbursed
- 3 days of paid sick leave
- Any donations I make, they will match it. So if I had worked at Home Depot last year, they would have matched my "shave your head for cancer" fundraising. Meaning I would have been able to donate $1000 to Cancer instead of $500.
- Super flexible. I told them I had exams in two weeks. They gave me minimal hours this week, and gave me the next week off....with no hassles.
- Profit sharing
- optional medical and dental insurance
- stock options available
- starting wage is great
- I can switch to any department after 3 months, and training is provided and paid for.

*all this was started on the first day of training. No 3 month wait.

Generation Next

A few blogs down I posted Jimmy Fallon's new Pepsi commercial now I'm posting an update
to it since I found the "longer version" to the commercial. Now I don't really know what makes me so infatuated with this commercial. Could it be Jimmy Fallon's awkwardly amusing body language? Could it be the lookdisplayed on Parker Posie's face (I assume that is Parker Posie)? Or is it the terribly cheesy trance being played? I don't know what it is, but I find it more addicting than roasted soya nuts....mmmmmm nuts...err soya nuts :D
